I Had a laptop where the graphics had gone (backlight still on, but no picture even whilst the bios was posting). I was charged J86 for it to be fixed. The laptop was returned promptly within approx 3-4 days. A day later I noticed that a few screws were missing and little things like LED indicators didn't work and the keyboard didn't seat right (wonky).
Apart from that the laptop ran OK for about 1 month and then the same thing happened again. So i call him and he picks it up and then calls back saying it was the processor this time and it will be another J35 (as a good will gesture!!!). I said i thought it would be covered under warranty and what happens if this happens again? He assured me it wouldn't.
Anyway 1 month later, guess what?? The same thing happens again. Moral of the story 1 - Don't trust someone who doesn't accept a credit card and gives the excuse "it's just not worth it",... Probably because he's suffered so many charge backs... Moral of the story 2 - don't repair a laptop, its just not worth it! Sell it on ebay as broken...
Moral of the story 3 - If you really want it repaired have your laptop manufacturer repair it. They normally offer this service, atleast you'll have piece of mind and more importantly someone to turn to who have a reputation to keep!
