In the early noughties I became aware that ordinary home users had very limited options for IT support, always having to take it somewhere to have it repaired and then trying to work out what to do when getting it home again. IT Know Howe was born out of the idea of actually going to people's homes to see the problem, right where it was happening.
Whether you back it up to a USB memory stick, an external hard drive, another computer or to somewhere on the internet, you MUST backup your personal and business files. I help lots of people who do not realise the value of their data until it is gone. While Data Recovery deals with the "after the horse has bolted", I would rather help ensure the "barn door is bolted". Everyone is different and I will try to ensure that the backup solution put in place for you is the most appropriate one for you.
The instructions say it is simple, but the reality sometimes leaves you scratching your head and, in some instances, without internet access and a connection to the outside world. It's not always about the router from the internet provider. Sometimes it's about getting the connection to that corner of the house which just never seems to get there. There's not much I've not seen that cannot be resolved with a bit of thought, careful consideration and, occasionally, a big stick to hit it with.
You've got your new computer or laptop, but all the files, folders, photos and music are on your old one and you've no way of moving it. Don't worry, I can help. Not only will I transfer all files, be they personal documents, photos or music, but I will also transfer your e-mail and Favourites/Bookmarks.
During a PC MOT I check through the settings and logs, remove things which may be slowing the computer down, ensure that the latest updates are correctly installed and programs are running the latest versions, clear away the rubbish, and recommend changes which would help the computer (and you) going forward.

Martin Howe is a fabulous go-to for any one looking to sort out any technical problems, on any gadget and especially anyone who is a bit tentative about technology, like me. I have used him a number of times and will always do so. What I particularly like is the way he explains things carefully and fully and never patronises. He has plenty of hints and tips up his sleeve and has given me excellent advice over the years. I am not a computer person. I bought a new computer with Windows 11 to replace my failing computer which had Windows 7 on it. Martin took both computers away and when he came round to connect it all up he had made the Windows 11 appearance and operating system exactly the same as Windows 7 so that I had absolutely no problem with converting from one to the other.
He also transferred all my files, documents, etc., to the new computer. Martin is very professional, knowledgeable and polite. I would recommend IT Know Howe to anyone and will certainly use him again if and when needed. Fantastic service and knowledge.
