Laptop Screen Repair
Report
If you suspect that your laptop screen is faulty, you can connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV. If the display appears OK on the external monitor, it is very likely that the screen is faulty (as opposed to, say, the video chipset on the mainboard) . If that is the case, the good news is that it is possible to repair or replace a non-working laptop screen.
Laptop Power Socket Repair
Report
A laptop's power socket accepts a DC input voltage (usually in the region of 15 - 25V) from the charger, which is used to charge the battery and power the machine when the charger is connected to the mains. Obviously the jack socket experiences wear and tear every time the laptop is plugged in to charge (and the plug is taken out again afterwards) .
Eventually the power socket can become loose and the connection to the laptop motherboard becomes unreliable. Some laptop power sockets are soldered directly onto the laptop mainboard, but others are connected by a short lead and are usually held in place by a small piece of plastic moulded to the laptop case. If this breaks, the socket can come loose and even disappear inside the laptop chassis.
Power socket damage can also occur due to accidents. For example it has been known for a laptop to be knocked off a table when the charger is connected, tearing the jack socket off the motherboard, or for people or pets to stand on the cord when the charger is plugged in.
