Disclaimer: I am writing this review after consulting with the official Lenovo service team, who confirmed that I was scammed.

I took my Lenovo laptop to CompuDOS Ltd after it stopped charging, hoping to have it repaired by professionals. However, my experience was nothing short of a fraudulent scam. This review aims to expose the deceitful practices of the owner, Mr. Hadi.

My laptop had a battery issue, and Mr. Hadi promised to diagnose it and inform me of the exact problem. After a week of silence, I called him, and he said he was still "assessing the situation." He quoted me £70-75 for a part replacement or £150 for a motherboard replacement, which he discouraged, claiming it was as expensive as buying a new laptop.

I was patient, but another week passed with no updates. I had to chase him again, and he finally told me that the part had been ordered and that it would take a few more days. On December 2nd, I received a text stating that my laptop was "fixed."

When I went to collect it on December 4th, Mr. Hadi tried to turn the laptop on, but it was still dead. He plugged it in and, without hesitation, quoted me £145 for the "repair." I was stunned but paid, trusting that the issue had been addressed. I asked him what had been repaired, and he vaguely said, “chips.” He provided no invoice, no warranty, and no details about the parts he allegedly replaced. This should have been my first red flag.

Once I got home, I plugged the laptop in, only to find that the battery still wouldn’t charge beyond 0%. Furious, I returned to CompuDOS the next day, December 5th, to confront Mr. Hadi. At this point, it became painfully obvious that Mr. Hadi had not even bothered to diagnose the problem properly. Instead of offering a solution, he plugged in his own charger and claimed it was simply a "battery issue." This was a blatant attempt to deceive me further, as the issue was never diagnosed correctly in the first place.

Mr. Hadi then had the audacity to offer me a "50-50" deal for a new battery, costing £59, which he claimed was my responsibility to pay half of. This was pure scamming—no apology, no refund, just more excuses and lies. To make matters worse, the part he claimed to have replaced is worth no more than £20, according to Lenovo technicians. Yet, I was charged £145 for what appears to be nothing more than a scam to extract money from unsuspecting customers.

Warning Signs of a Scam:
No fixed pricing for services or parts – expect to be kept in the dark until the final bill.
No upfront quotes – Mr. Hadi will string you along with vague estimates until you’re trapped with the final, exorbitant bill.
No service invoice or warranty for parts – a classic scam tactic to avoid accountability.
Mr. Hadi’s behavior is unprofessional, deceitful, and fraudulent. Instead of owning up to his mistakes, he tried to gaslight me and shift the blame onto a new battery. This is a clear scam operation designed to take your money without providing any legitimate service.

I am actively reporting this fraudulent business to Citizen Advice, Google Reviews, Trustpilot, and social media platforms. If you value your money and your time, DO NOT trust this service center.

If you still choose to visit, be extra cautious. Demand a detailed service rate card and invoice before proceeding with any repairs. Do not let Mr. Hadi take advantage of you!

Amazing service. My laptop screen was fixed in just 1 day! My MacBook Pro was repaired and in perfect condition and works just fine though the damage was severe. The price was surprisingly really fair and I would 10/10 recommend this company.

The hard drive on my Windows HP laptop was dead and gone, Hadi replaced it with a new one within 24 hours and it was reasonably priced. Work comes with 3 month warranty too. Very friendly, polite and professional. Will definitely use CompuDOS again for any future laptop repairs.

Gave a call beforehand to enquire, was friendly and welcoming. Took 2 computers in and fixed the first 1 in a day. Amazingly friendly and nice guy and pricing/support is second to none. Would take any other computers that break here again 100%

Having taken my laptop to a couple of previous places and neither could or would repair my keyboard, I came here and have now got my laptop back with a new keyboard and everything working once more. Very happy not to be having to buy a new laptop for the sake of such a small issue. Would certainly use this place again and recommend them to anyone.

Spilled water all over my new Apple Mac, was told by apple it would cost 600 pounds to repair. I was recommended CompuDOS and they managed to diagnose and complete the repair for 250 pounds in a few days for what really was a big job. I was slightly nervous about going somewhere that wasn't apple certified but these guys were fantastic, super quick, to the point and friendly. 10/10!

Excellent place to get your laptop fixed, I needed a fan replacement and he sourced the parts within 24 hours. Received my fixed laptop the next day.

Flawless work, quick turnaround. Hadi resurrected my half drowned laptop in about two hours as I'm sure he has done for generations of Manchester students studying in the uni across the road. If you are still reading you need to stop and take whatever peice of poor technology you have straight there.

A lifesaver. I came in with a last minute emergency laptop repair, which I needed fixed quickly, and CompuDOS made the extra effort to fix it as best as it could be and as fast as possible (just over 24hours). Unlike other places, they also managed to save the mother board instead of telling me to get it replaced which would've been much more expensive. Instead the price they gave me was very fair. Great attitude, great service, will definitely come back if I ever need anything fixed again.

Wonderful service! A really approachable and friendly guy. I needed my charging port fixed and a new battery and both services were done quickly and well. He stuck to his price quote even though the parts were a bit more expensive than expected. So glad I went to him rather than Currys - cheaper, quicker and more transparent. I highly recommend him!

The portable drive i use to archive all my old stuff got corrupted when backing up my latest stuff . Hadi was able to recover all my stuff at a good price. All done in a timely manner as well.

Took my laptop in to be looked at Wednesday afternoon, it was ready for collection the following morning. They repaired the DC jack rather than replacing it, meaning I was charged £20 less than was originally quoted - great service!

Replaced my spent Macbook battery charger for half the retail price at this service store! Although there was a problem with the lagging speed of the software operator at first, the technician was able to eventually resolve the issue competently. Now my Macbook air is up and running at it's usual top speed with a much higher battery power retention!

Excellent service, definitely recommend and would go back. I have been part of Knowhow insurance for several years, they had my laptop in for repair 6 times and still couldn't find a fault with my speakers and I had a further issue with the hinges on my laptop causing WIFI and touch screen faults where i went to another repair shop local to me in Swinton, they kept telling me to sell my 3 year old £800 pound laptop which was extremely frustrating as i knew it still worked perfectly fine apart from these minor faults, which i felt should easily be fixced at a repair shop.

I found CompuDOS online, after checking out their reviews they seemed good so i popped in, within 24 hours i had a return call confirming price, all faults were found with an explanation which finally made sense to me! They advised me I did have a good laptop and they fully serviced it free of charge. It is working like new and I'm so relieved as they have saved me £100's of pound. Very cheap, friendly, they explain things in a way you understand and they are exceptionally fast. Keep up the good work!

I wholeheartedly recommend this place! One of the lovely gentlemen fixed my computer ( kept rebooting had to get a new HDD + display problem + data transfer) in 2 days and when I broke the display again a few days later (accidentally, I just pressed a button) and I took the laptop in again, had another look and sorted it out for me the next day at no extra charge!

They keep you updated through text what needs doing and how much and wait for your answer before they proceed. They deal with a lot of different things as well so next time you have any kind of issue with your PC/laptop/Mac just go to CompuDOS!

Goes the extra mile. Repaired my laptop screen bezel, restored back to great condition. Had issues with my fan following this, which was fixed free of charge.

I woke up this morning to an utterly dead laptop, not good when you're self employed! The lovely guys at CompuDOS were wonderful - saving me from a bunch of stress by fixing my laptop in record time. I took it in at around 9.30 a.m. and it was back with me by 5 p.m. the same day. Brilliant! They were friendly and professional throughout and my VERY old laptop now purrs like a kitten after they not only replaced the faulty graphics card but also sorted out cleaning the vents and fan. They also gave me lots of advice on computer upkeep which was very welcome. Perfect service, many thanks!

Many thanks to the CompuDOS team for saving my laptop & data! They were really understanding & professional. After I'd told them my issue they asked me a few questions and immediately identified what could've gone wrong. They assured me they'd do their best to repair everything promptly. Their service was extremely quick and I got a quote for the repairs the same day.

The next day they even texted as a reminder, that the machine was ready for collection. The price was very reasonable and my laptop was back in perfect working condition. When I checked everything I was pleasantly surprised to find that they'd even installed anti malware software for free. They also fixed an overheating problem which could've caused permanent damage to my graphics card, and that too was free of charge (it usually costs around £40 for this kind of service). Overall, I was extremely pleased with the excellent service provided.

Yesterday for me was a day of running around the city to get things printed and buy cardboard, paint and other fun things. It reminded me of my days back in Uni and more so because I had to go back to the university area to get all these things for cheap. I had to print 100 copies of color handouts with two hand outs in each page. My friend from University suggested me to go to Compudos right next to pub zoo and near MMU students union.

Thank god it is March and the students don't have to get their ultra thick dissertations printed, because this is when printing places become busier than Obama (No kidding). I had a pretty smooth entry into the shop because there was no queue of any kind and the shop owner was very friendly and welcoming. I could not find my pen drive so he let me use his computer to open my email and find the document (bless him).

He then printed out the copies for me and also help me cut the papers (I had two handouts in one sheet). That was such a big help because I was dreading to do that by myself. He also guided me as to where I could find a massive cardboard and paint for cheap. The printing cost me only 23 pounds (100 copies of color print). Verdict: Good service and reasonable pricing! I am definitely going back whenever I have any printing work!

Compudos is one of a number of computer repair centres in the area surrounding the two Manchester university Campuses (University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University) - with all the students downloading music and/or spilling cider onto their laptops they all do a pretty brisk trade. My friends have used Compudos to repair their computers in the past and report them to be quick and reasonably priced - but then any price is reasonable when it comes to recovering your un-backed up research project.

My contact with the business came when I needed to get my dissertation bound on the day it was due to be handed in. The queues at the highly recommended U-Print (located on The University of Manchester's north campus) were massive and I was verging on full-blown panic attack by the time I reached Compudos. Within five minutes they had spiral bound both copies of my dissertation at a charge of only 7 (metal binding is available for 8.50 a copy and hardback for 15, with a 5 surcharge for a one hour rush service.) I handed it in with half an hour to spare. And that's how Compudos saved my degree, true story.

Mac was failing to start up, the guys at compudos fixed it in 3 hours and no data - important or otherwise - was lost. The repair of the motherboard was fairly priced at £58. A week later it had a similar issue and they turned it round in 20 minutes with no further charge. Need it for work, they understood and duly delivered in quick time. Highly recommend Compudos for any repairs!

The Compudos team are electronic alchemists. As other reviews have highlighted they bring back computers/laptops from the dead. For me they have done it on countless times, must be five or six times to date. I can't thank them enough. The service they provide is first class and the universities are lucky to have them on their doorsteps. For all the times I've been going there (and I must admit, as they have pointed out, my laptop should be now housed in a museum) they have been thoroughly professional, really understanding and very efficient. They are both great guys, honest and frank too.

I have been a customer for several years always excellent service, polite and excellent pricing for quality work. I have only good things to say over my years of experience with the shop! Would never go anywhere else for any computer problems!!!

My laptop experienced liquid damaged due to
Red bull spilling all over it. I went to the Apple store and they said that it would cost £1000 to repair and that they did not do data recovery. I then found CompuDOS online due to google reviews and trust me the reviews are right they got my data from my damaged laptop within 2 days, at a affordable price. They have saved my life as a university student I had essays that I needed to recover, I would definitely recommend them.
